From Thursday 24 September till Saturday 3 October at 7pm, coinciding with what would have been the theatre’s autumn season, a new installation in the foyer of Royal Lyceum Theatre is available for audiences to view. In a gesture towards letting audiences know how much they are missed and to celebrate Scotland’s missing theatre, anyone who may be feeling the gap of there being no theatre is invited to turn up to Grindlay Street in the Capital for this event.
#TakeASeat is a collective response to the spaces we cannot be in, an art installation and a love letter to absent audiences by some well-respected industry creatives. It is a rallying call for creative and thought-provoking responses that both illustrate and celebrate Scotland’s remarkable theatre industry.
The installation, that can only be viewed by the public from the outside, involves sound and light and will become animated at standard performance times: 7.30pm (Monday to Saturday) and 2.30pm (Wednesday and Saturday).
