Leith Folk Club 2023 Fundraiser Tuesday 28 February
A few members of the Leith Folk Club ‘auld guard’ have reformed the club and have arranged a Leith Folk Club 2023 Fundraiser in their new home in the Heart of Newhaven (the former Victoria Primary School building) on Tuesday 28 February.
A spokesperson for LFC said “The money raised will enable us to recover from the last three years and will be used to get us back to doing what we do best – presenting regular gigs featuring the best Scottish and international folk and world music in the heart of Newhaven, just down the road from our previous venue.
The full line-up for the night will be announced nearer the time, but to whet your appetite we have already confirmed our trusty local favourite, Fozzie Sayers; Boulder Fields (Cam Main, Amy Geddes and Suzy Cargill) whose traditional instruments and vocal harmonies blur the line between Scottish folk and Americana; and Crooked River Kings, an exciting new quartet whose members Tara Cunningham, Polly Edwards, Cameron Newell and Dominic Blaikie weave melodies from Scotland’s North East and West Coast fiddle canon with infectious rhythms and well-crafted traditional songs.”
Doors: 1930 for 2000 start. Curfew 2230.
Price: entry by donation on the night, cash only. Suggested cash donation £10 please.
Facilities: The venue is accessible at ground level. It is unlicensed so please bring your own drinks and glasses (and take your empties home with you).
Venue: Heart of Newhaven, Newhaven Main Street, EH6 4HY
