BBC Scotland’s home grown soap opera, River City, will have a new cast member when Edinburgh panto star Allan Stewart joins his Capital theatre colleagues, Grant Stott and Jordan Young, before the opening of this season’s festive treat, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves at the Festival Theatre.
Allan and Grant’s panto pal, the late great Andy Gray, was also in River City as Peter and Allan credits him with his cameo in the show saying, “We really do believe Andy is looking down and sorting things for us.” Allan will play Gavin and has a scene with his old pal Grant Stott who plays Sam in a scenario where on the search for new talent, |Sam tells Steve (Iain Robertson) about his friend Gavin, a variety performer turned actor, who performs a scene from the film Taxi Driver for Sam and Stevie who are not so sure but luckily Suzie (Juliet Cadzow) is suitably impressed.
Anyone who is a regular theatre goer in Scotland can enjoy seeing many of their stage favourites on the small screen so having another familiar theatrical face among the stalwarts will be an added treat.
River City is a BBC Studios, Scotland production for BBC Scotland and BBCOne Scotland.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarvesopens at the Festival Theatre Edinburgh on Saturday 17th December.
